
The 20th installment of the Prime Minister Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-Kisan) scheme brought financial assistance of Rs 553.34 crore to over 25.47 lakh farmers in Chhattisgarh. This nationwide disbursement, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi via video conferencing, saw approximately 9.26 crore eligible farmers across India receive a total of Rs 18,000 crore directly into their bank accounts. Chhattisgarh’s farmers have cumulatively received Rs 9765.26 crore since the scheme’s launch in February 2019.
A state-level farmers’ gathering was held at the Mahatma Gandhi Horticulture and Forestry University auditorium in Raipur to celebrate this milestone. Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai attended as the chief guest, alongside Union Minister of State for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Tokhan Sao, Chhattisgarh’s Agriculture Minister Ramvichar Netam, and other notable figures from the government and agriculture sector.
Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai emphasized the significance of the PM-Kisan scheme, highlighting its alignment with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of empowering Indian farmers and doubling their income. He underlined the scheme’s historical importance in achieving this goal and reiterated the state government’s commitment to supporting farmers through various initiatives.
Union Minister of State Tokhan Sao expressed satisfaction with the widespread benefits Chhattisgarh farmers are receiving from central government schemes. He emphasized the immense impact of the PM-Kisan scheme, stating that over Rs 3 lakh crore has been disbursed to farmers across the country to date.
Beneficiary farmers took the opportunity to share their experiences on stage, showcasing how the scheme has positively impacted their agricultural practices. The convention also brought together agricultural scientists, officials, and representatives from cooperative societies to engage in discussions and explore the future of agriculture in Chhattisgarh.
The PM-Kisan scheme provides a direct financial boost to eligible farmer families, offering Rs 2,000 every four months, amounting to Rs 6,000 annually. This financial support is delivered directly to farmers’ bank accounts through the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) mechanism.
