
As part of the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi initiative, the 20th installment was released, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi distributing funds to over 9.7 crore farmers nationwide. From Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, the DBT transfers were made. Chhattisgarh’s Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai joined the event virtually from the Horticultural and Forestry University in Raipur, interacting with the state’s farming community.
The Prime Minister stated that since the inception of the scheme in 2019, a total of ₹3.75 lakh crore has been directly deposited into farmers’ accounts across the country. He reiterated the government’s commitment to farmer welfare, pointing to the PM Kisan Nidhi as a prime example. The Prime Minister also announced the Pradhan Mantri Dhan-Dhan Yojana, aimed at supporting agricultural development in underserved districts, with an allocation of ₹24,000 crore.
Emphasis was given to the government’s investments in irrigation projects to ensure water availability and increase agricultural output. The Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana was highlighted as a crucial program for providing relief to farmers during natural calamities. The Prime Minister also underscored the importance of women’s economic empowerment, noting the progress of over 1.5 crore women becoming Lakhpati Didis.
Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai extended greetings for the auspicious month of Shravan and wished for the prosperity of Chhattisgarh. He announced that over 25 lakh farmers in Chhattisgarh have benefited from the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi, receiving a total of ₹553.34 crore. On behalf of the state, he expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Modi for acknowledging the contributions of the farmers.
The Chief Minister emphasized the government’s dedication to fulfilling promises made to farmers. He noted that Chhattisgarh farmers are currently receiving ₹3100 per quintal for paddy, which enhances their income. He highlighted the distribution of ₹3716 crore in pending bonus payments within the first ten days of the government’s formation, thus strengthening farmer confidence. He also mentioned the significant role of the Kisan Credit Card (KCC) scheme, initially introduced during Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s tenure, which transformed farming into a more profitable endeavor by providing zero-interest loans.
The Chief Minister detailed various welfare initiatives implemented by the government, including efforts to expand irrigation infrastructure. He mentioned the focus on Bastar’s development and the implementation of projects such as the Bodhghat project, along with the linking of the Mahanadi and Indravati rivers. Financial support of ₹10,000 is being provided to encourage the cultivation of pulses and oilseeds, along with similar aid for landless agricultural laborers.
The Chief Minister highlighted initiatives aimed at strengthening allied agricultural sectors, including fisheries, dairy farming, and animal husbandry. The distribution of milch animals is being piloted in six districts, facilitated through the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB). This aims to boost milk production and ensure fair market prices for farmers. Efforts are also underway to promote the cultivation of nutritious millets like Shree Anna and traditional crops such as Kodo, Kutki, and Ragi, thereby improving market opportunities for Chhattisgarh’s farmers.
Union Minister of State Tokhan Sahu remarked that the government, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, continues to provide financial assistance to farmers through this scheme. He emphasized the construction of paved roads in rural areas and the availability of short-term, interest-free loans through the Kisan Credit Card. He stated that the government has launched numerous schemes to improve the lives of farmers.
Agriculture Development and Farmer Welfare Minister Ramvichar Netam confirmed that the 20th installment of ₹553.34 crore was disbursed to over 25.47 lakh farmers in Chhattisgarh. He emphasized the state government’s commitment to modernizing agriculture and enhancing farming practices. The Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan initiative facilitated interactions between agricultural experts and over one lakh farmers to disseminate information on improved agricultural techniques.
At the event, agricultural equipment and subsidy checks were distributed to beneficiaries. The program was attended by various MLAs, government officials, and the Vice-Chancellors of agricultural universities, along with a large number of farmers.
