
Nava Raipur now boasts a new legislative assembly building, inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who proclaimed it the start of a significant developmental phase for Chhattisgarh. During his address, PM Modi highlighted the historical importance of leaders from the region in the Constitution-making process led by Dr. BR Ambedkar. He spoke emotionally about his personal journey, stating that Chhattisgarh and its people have been instrumental in his own life’s shaping, a ‘great blessing’ he cherishes. The Prime Minister also emphasized India’s democratic heritage as the ‘mother of democracy’ and mentioned the upcoming ‘Amrit Varsh’ in 2025 as a key national milestone. Reflecting on the state’s history, Modi stated he has observed every stage of Chhattisgarh’s progress, from its initial vision to its current achievements. He paid homage to Atal Bihari Vajpayee, the architect of Chhattisgarh’s formation 25 years prior, stating that the new assembly and Vajpayee’s newly unveiled statue represent the realization of his vision. Modi emphasized that Vajpayee’s creation of the state was an act to foster development and honor Chhattisgarh’s identity. The Rs 324 crore, 51-acre Vidhan Sabha complex is seen as a vibrant emblem of the state’s culture and forward momentum.
