
Raipur, November 15, 2025/A grand and dignified National Tribal Pride Day event was organized at the Police Parade Ground, Bilaspur on the occasion of the 150th birth anniversary of Lord Birsa Munda. Addressing a large gathering at the event, Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai said that the history of the tribal society is filled with valor, sacrifice, and pride. The contribution of tribal heroes in the freedom struggle of the country has been incomparable and unforgettable, but they have not received the respect in the pages of history that they truly deserve.
On this occasion, Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai announced the installation of a life-size statue of Lord Birsa Munda in Bilaspur and naming a prominent square in the city after Lord Birsa Munda. He also announced the naming of the Lal Khadan Overbridge after Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh, the establishment of modern post-matric hostels with 300 and 200 seats for tribal boys and girls, and the construction of a community hall for the tribal society in Kota block.
The Chief Minister said that the Prime Minister of the country, Shri Narendra Modi, has rectified this historical neglect and has done unprecedented work for the honor, upliftment, and development of the tribal society. He himself visited the land of Lord Birsa Munda and launched many welfare schemes for the progress of the society. The decision by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi to celebrate the birth anniversary of Lord Birsa Munda as ‘Tribal Pride Day’ has awakened a new consciousness of self-respect and pride across the country.
Chief Minister Shri Sai informed that Prime Minister Shri Modi has honored the contributions of tribal heroes and legends across the country by inaugurating the Rani Durgawati Museum in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh, and the Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh Tribal Museum in Raipur. This museum is also available in digital format so that the new generation can become better acquainted with its history.
Recalling former Prime Minister late Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee, the Chief Minister said that it was Atal ji who gave a new identity to the tribal society by creating the states of Jharkhand and Chhattisgarh. He established the Ministry of Tribal Affairs and ensured special budget provisions for tribal development.
The Chief Minister informed that under the Dharti Aaba Village Development Scheme, rapid development work is being carried out in more than 6,600 villages across the country with an investment of over Rs 80,000 crore. Along with this, the PM-Janman Yojana is being run for Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups, under which roads, housing, and basic facilities are being rapidly expanded. He said that Chhattisgarh ranks first in the country in the implementation of these schemes, and the state has been honored by the President for this achievement.
At the event, Chief Minister Shri Sai congratulated the public on the inauguration and foundation stone laying of development works worth over Rs 329.77 crore in Bilaspur district. Talented students from the tribal community, artists who performed cultural programs, social workers, and Deepika Dhruv, who created sketches, were honored at the event. The Chief Minister held discussions with prominent public representatives of the society and assured them of fulfilling their demands.
The event was presided over by Deputy Chief Minister Shri Arun Sao. He said that today is a day of good fortune and honor for Bilaspur, as it has received development works worth over Rs 329 crore. Describing Lord Birsa Munda as a great hero of the freedom movement, he mentioned the features of the Tribal Museum located in Nava Raipur and appealed to everyone to visit it.

Pooja Vidhani, tribal community members Shri Hemant Raj, Shri Virendra Singh Raj, Shri Umesh Kashyap, Smt. Vandana Uike, Shri Ved Singh Markam, Divisional Commissioner Shri Sunil Jain, IG Shri Sanjeev Shukla, Collector Shri Sanjay Agarwal, SSP Shri Raneesh Singh, and a large number of public representatives and officials were present.
