A police inspector on duty at Raipur Airport has been subjected to disciplinary action after a video depicting him touching the feet of Dhirendra Shastri gained widespread attention online. The act has been officially recognized as a contravention of service regulations and an affront to the police uniform’s dignity.
The inspector, identified as Manish Tiwari, has been reassigned to police lines following the incident. Eyewitness accounts and video evidence suggest that Tiwari, in his capacity as station in-charge, greeted Dhirendra Shastri, the head of Bageshwar Dham, with a salute and subsequently touched his feet upon the spiritual leader’s arrival at the airport. The video’s rapid dissemination online triggered an official review.
Officials have emphasized that while on duty, uniformed personnel are expected to maintain a professional distance and avoid actions that could be perceived as compromising their impartiality or the respect due to their position. This disciplinary measure serves as a clear directive regarding the adherence to service codes and the separation of personal devotion from official responsibilities. The situation remains a subject of public discussion.
