A significant fire incident occurred Tuesday night in Raipur, Chhattisgarh, at the Babylon Tower. The fire, which was reported to the authorities, prompted immediate response from the police and fire brigade. The fire was brought under control by the fire department, with electricity to the tower being shut off to mitigate further damage. Due to the enclosed structure of the tower, residents experienced difficulties due to smoke inhalation. Rescue operations were launched to extract those trapped, with reports indicating individuals were stranded as high as the 7th floor.
Initial reports suggest the fire began on the lower floors of the Babylon Tower in the Telibandha area. The blaze spread rapidly, affecting multiple floors up to the seventh. Emergency services were quickly notified, leading to the arrival of police and the fire brigade. The fire brigade worked to extinguish the flames and prevent further spread, including cutting off the building’s power supply to manage electrical hazards.
As the fire subsided, rescue teams began to extract individuals from the building. Concerns grew as smoke and power outages caused distress, with trapped individuals calling for assistance. The tower houses several businesses, including restaurants on the upper levels, adding complexity to the rescue efforts.
Local authorities, including the Raipur Collector Gaurav Singh and SP Lal Umed Singh, arrived on the scene to oversee operations and gather information. The fire brigade faced the task of safely evacuating all trapped individuals. There is currently no confirmed information on the number of people who were trapped in the restaurant. The fire is believed to have originated from the basement. The rescue operation is complete. All 47 people trapped in the tower have been rescued safely. An investigation into the cause of the fire is underway by the fire brigade.
