
Regional workshop of ‘Lakhpati Mahila Pahal’ to be held in Raipur from July 9 to 11
Officers and livelihood experts from 11 states will participate
Women entrepreneurship will get a new dimension
Raipur, July 8, 2025/ A significant national level regional workshop is going to be organized by the Ministry of Rural Development, Government of India, in Raipur from July 9 to 11, 2025, in the direction of making “Lakhpati Didis”. This workshop is being organized under Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana – National Rural Livelihoods Mission. Senior officials, mission directors, livelihood experts, representatives of self-help groups and other associated stakeholders from 11 states of the country will participate in the event.
The workshop will be inaugurated in the presence of Mr. T. K. Anil, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Rural Development, Government of India, Mrs. Niharika Barik, Principal Secretary, Department of Panchayat and Rural Development, Government of Chhattisgarh, Mrs. Swati Sharma, Joint Secretary, Government of India and Mr. Bheem Singh, Secretary, Government of Chhattisgarh.
It is noteworthy that Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has set a target of preparing 3 crore “Lakhpati Didis” in the country, under which various efforts are being made to make rural women financially self-reliant and entrepreneurial. In this context, this workshop will provide a strong platform for detailed discussion and sharing of experiences on various aspects such as— rural livelihood opportunities, social and financial inclusion, skill development, market availability, value chain creation and strategies based on modern technologies.
This workshop will witness the participation of participants from the states of Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Uttarakhand, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Jammu and Kashmir, Telangana, Odisha, Haryana, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh.
Specifically, Mr. Shailesh Kumar Singh, Secretary, Ministry of Rural Development, Government of India and Mr. S. C. L. Das, Secretary, Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises will join through video conferencing and provide guidance to the participants.
During the workshop, in various sessions, in-depth brainstorming will be done on the topics of use of local resources, women’s training, financial inclusion and business promotion. An exhibition of materials produced by self-help groups formed under the Livelihoods Mission will also be organized in the event, so that they can get a better market for their products.
Mrs. Jayashree Jain, Director, Chhattisgarh State Rural Livelihoods Mission, said that all the preparations for the workshop have been completed. She has expressed hope that this event will encourage women’s leadership in rural development to play a more effective role. This workshop will not only be an opportunity for discussion but will also become the basis for solid strategies for the future, which will empower lakhs of women in the form of “Lakhpati Didis”.
