An accidental explosion at the Chirmiri open cast coal mine in Chhattisgarh has resulted in injuries to three workers, including two females. The incident took place on Monday afternoon within the Manendragarh-Chirmiri-Bharatpur district, managed by South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL). Reports indicate that the blast occurred while a group of miners was preparing for a routine blasting operation by laying explosives. The force of the explosion caused fragments to scatter, leading to the injuries. The affected workers were immediately provided with medical attention at the SECL hospital in Kurasia and are reported to be in stable condition with minor injuries. Authorities are investigating the cause, with a technical fault being the suspected reason for the early detonation. A comprehensive inquiry is being conducted to determine if any equipment failure, procedural lapse, or error contributed to the incident. Operations at the mine have been temporarily suspended as a safety precaution and to facilitate the investigation.
