In a significant blow to left-wing extremism, six Naxalites were killed in a fierce encounter with security forces in the Bijapur district of Chhattisgarh. The operation commenced Tuesday morning in the Indravati National Park region, triggered by intelligence indicating the presence of key Maoist cadres. Joint teams from the DRG and STF initiated an anti-insurgency mission, which quickly escalated into a serious gun battle. The exchange of gunfire continued intermittently for several hours, demonstrating the militants’ resistance. Following the cessation of hostilities, search parties discovered the bodies of six Naxalites along with a cache of firearms, including an INSAS rifle, sten guns, and explosives. The successful neutralization of these cadres is a testament to the dedication and courage of the security personnel involved. The state government has applauded this achievement, viewing it as a crucial step towards dismantling the Naxal menace. The state has seen a substantial number of Naxalite casualties this year, highlighting the effectiveness of ongoing security operations.
