Chhattisgarh is fostering a new era of energy independence, where solar energy consumers are not just users but also contributors to the energy grid. Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai launched a solar energy awareness campaign at Raipur’s Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay Auditorium, highlighting the progress towards the state’s clean energy objectives, particularly through the PM Suryaghar Muft Bijli Yojana. During the event, CM Sai initiated the Surya Rath to educate people about the advantages of solar energy and the PM Suryaghar scheme, including the subsidies available. Moreover, he oversaw the online transfer of ₹1.85 crore in state subsidies, distributed at ₹30,000 per consumer, to 618 beneficiaries. CM Sai affirmed the state’s commitment to promoting solar energy, with the goal of transitioning from partially subsidized electricity bills to fully free electricity. He urged citizens to adopt clean energy practices and involve others in this initiative. The CM explained that both the central and state governments are offering subsidies and providing financial assistance through banking channels, with the aim of providing consumers with completely free electricity in the future. He also mentioned the Letters of Award given to beneficiaries under the Pradhan Mantri Kusum Yojana, enabling them to generate and sell solar power, and benefit from reduced electricity costs. The CM underscored the success of the Saubhagya Yojana in electrifying every household and the nation’s progress towards sustainable energy under the Prime Minister’s leadership. He also noted the substantial increase in Chhattisgarh’s power generation capacity and the significant investment in the energy sector facilitated by the new industrial policy.
