Tragedy struck the village of Dhauara Bhata in Dhamtari district during the Navratri festival. Vinod Kumar, the young man who was acting as a priest in the Durga Puja pandal, was found dead after taking his own life by hanging. On Friday, he left the pandal premises and went to a nearby house. His extended absence prompted villagers to investigate, where they found Vinod suspended by a gamcha. The incident has cast a pall of gloom over the entire village, transforming the joyous Durga Mahotsav into a period of mourning. Police are conducting a thorough investigation, and the body has been sent to Dhamtari District Hospital for a post-mortem examination. The cause of the suicide remains unknown, leaving the community in a state of shock and grief.
