
Raipur, July 9, 2025 / The roots of Buddhist tradition are very deep in Chhattisgarh and the state government is moving forward on the path of development, absorbing the message of love, peace and compassion of Lord Buddha. Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai said this while addressing the unveiling ceremony of the grand statue of Lord Buddha, newly installed at the hotel ground premises located in Mainpat of Surguja district today. On this occasion, Chief Minister Shri Sai paid floral tributes to the statue of Lord Buddha and bowed to him and wished for the happiness, prosperity and peace of the state residents.
In his address, Chief Minister Shri Sai expressed his gratitude to the Tibetan community for the invitation on this auspicious occasion. He said that there are many such places in Chhattisgarh where Lord Buddha is worshiped. In Sirpur, Buddhist, Jain and Sanatan traditions are seen together, which is a unique example of the inclusive culture of the state.
Chief Minister Shri Sai, while remembering the 90th birthday of Dalai Lama Ji, said that his life is a living symbol of the principles of compassion, love and peace of Lord Buddha. His message is a source of new hope and positivity for today’s world. He said that Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and leaders from all over the world have conveyed their birthday greetings to the Dalai Lama Ji, which shows how deeply the ideas of Lord Buddha have influenced global life.
The Chief Minister said that Mainpat is a place full of natural beauty and cultural diversity, which thrills tourists. There are immense possibilities of tourism here, and the state government is committed to its overall development. The Chief Minister said that tourism has been given special priority in the new industrial policy of the state, and special incentives will be provided to those who start home stay facilities in areas like Mainpat.
On this occasion, the Chief Minister announced Rs 10 lakh for the construction of CC road from Sela Resort to Buddhist temple in Mainpat and Rs 20 lakh for the construction of shed in the ancient Buddhist temple, on the demand of the Tibetan Cooperative Society.
Chief Minister Shri Sai planted saplings on this occasion. It is noteworthy that the Chief Minister was warmly welcomed in the program according to the traditional Tibetan customs. People holding the tricolor met the Chief Minister enthusiastically, which made the atmosphere cheerful.
Surguja MP Shri Chintamani Maharaj, Sitapur MLA Shri Ramkumar Toppo, Collector Shri Vilas Bhoskar, Settlement Officer Ms. Swang Yangso, President of Tibetan Cooperative Society Shri Tamding Sering, Monastery Head Lama Dubje, Lama Jinpa and a large number of members of the Tibetan community were present in the program.
