A heart-wrenching tragedy has unfolded in the Morwa police station area of Singrauli district, Madhya Pradesh, where a young woman from Korba district, Chhattisgarh, was reportedly raped and murdered. The incident took place three days ago. The local police are facing criticism for their alleged inaction and failure to handle the case with the seriousness it deserves.
The victim’s family has reported that the body of the young woman was left unattended outside a hospital in Morwa for a period of three days. Medical professionals initially refused to conduct a post-mortem, citing the condition of the body. The body was later sent to Rewa Medical College Hospital, arriving late on Monday. The victim’s father was employed in Singrauli and recently passed away; her mother now holds a position through compassionate appointment.
The family has alleged that the police have been reluctant to register a rape case, despite the circumstances. They further accuse the police of attempting to prevent the victim’s relatives from staying at the police station, creating significant distress within the family. Senior police officials have arrived at the scene to assess the situation and attempt to appease the public. The family has since transported the body to Korba and organized a road blockade at Aamgaon Chowk to protest.
