Chhattisgarh’s Ayurvedic processing project realizing ‘Vocal for Local’
Raipur, June 28, 2025/ The state-of-the-art Ayurvedic medicine processing unit built by Chhattisgarh State Minor Forest Produce Cooperative Federation Limited will be inaugurated on June 29 at village Jamgaon (M), district Durg. Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai will be the chief guest of the inauguration ceremony. The program will be presided over by Forest and Climate Change Minister Shri Kedar Kashyap. On this occasion, Deputy Chief Minister Shri Vijay Sharma, MP Durg Shri Vijay Baghel, local MLAs, State Vanoshadhi Board President Shri Vikas Markam and Forest Development Corporation President Shri Ramsevak Paikra will be present. Shri Shri 1008 Doctor Swami Kailashanand Giri Ji Maharaj Mahamandaleshwar, Haridwar Uttarakhand will be specially present in the program.
The Ayurvedic processing unit is a historic initiative in the direction of realizing the Forest to Pharmacy model by connecting the rich forest resources of Chhattisgarh with science and modern technology. It is estimated that products worth approximately Rs. 50 crore will be produced annually from the Ayurvedic processing unit built at a cost of Rs. 36.47 crore in an area of 27.87 acres. This unit will organize and scientifically process medicinal and minor forest produce found in the forests of the state like Mahua, Saal seeds, Kalmegh, Giloy, Ashwagandha etc. and manufacture quality Ayurvedic products like Churna, Syrup, Oil, Tablets and Avleh. This unit will also become a major center to give recognition to the products of the state in the national and international market under the Chhattisgarh Herbals brand. Under the project, more than 1000 people will get direct and indirect employment opportunities. In this, a large number of women will be ensured participation in primary processing works, which will give them an opportunity for self-employment. At the same time, new doors of livelihood will open at the local level as the youth get technical training.
A modern warehouse with a storage capacity of 20,000 metric tons has been developed in the Ayurvedic processing unit, which will help in the long-term conservation and quality control of seasonal forest produce. This project gives shape to the vision of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji’s Vocal for Local and Atmanirbhar Bharat. It not only presents an example of local value addition of forest products, but also strengthens environmental balance, economic development and social inclusivity.
It is noteworthy that under the leadership of Chhattisgarh State Minor Forest Produce Cooperative Federation Limited, the state is moving towards a new green industrial era, which is ensuring a wide positive change in the lives of forest dwellers and villagers.
