A film actress from Chhattisgarh, Jyotsna Tamrakar, was subjected to an attempted robbery on the Rewa-Bilaspur Express (Train No. 18248). The distressing incident unfolded during her journey, prompting the actress to document her experience in a video shared on social media.
Tamrakar recounted the events of June 19th. The train halted outside Katni railway station around 2 AM. After departing from Katni, the train stopped at an outer signal a short distance away. During this brief stop, an individual tried to steal her belongings through the train window. The attempt failed, resulting in the perpetrator punching her in the face. After the train resumed its journey, it was revealed that passengers in coaches S1 to S5 had also been victims of theft, leading to considerable anxiety among the travelers. The actress reached Bilaspur railway station and sought immediate assistance from the RPF and GRP, but without immediate help.
Following the incident, Tamrakar reported the incident to the railway helpline number 139, but alleged a lack of immediate response. She waited for an hour at Bilaspur station, pointing out the absence of RPF and GRP personnel. The absence of security allowed the perpetrators to evade capture.
The actress noted that thefts were reported in other train compartments, suggesting a gang was involved. After reporting the incident to the railway helpline, she highlighted the lack of an immediate police response. She has urged the government and railway authorities to address this issue and to punish the criminals. This incident has sparked serious concerns about security in the railway system.
GRP station in-charge L.P. Kashyap has stated that they are looking into the matter, having learned of the incident through social media. Bilaspur GRP in-charge D.N. Srivastava reported that he spoke with the actress, who stated she was in Raipur and planned to file an FIR.
