
The Gariaband district in Chhattisgarh is experiencing renewed elephant activity. Two tuskers were observed in the Rajim region on Friday morning, leading to widespread concern.
Reports suggest that one elephant is in the Khudesa forest and another in the Tarjungha forest, both within a 5 km radius of Nagar Panchayat Fingeshwar. One elephant is believed to have entered from the Mahasamund district and the other from the border of Dhamtari district. The Forest Department has issued a high alert across approximately 25 villages, viewing the situation as critical. Villagers are instructed not to enter the forest, and public awareness campaigns are underway.
The Forest Department and the Elephant Mitra Dal are closely monitoring the area to prevent any casualties or crop damage. The Forest Department has urged villagers to ignore rumors and support the forest officials.
