In a major electoral revision, Chhattisgarh’s draft voter rolls have been published, revealing that more than 27 lakh names have been removed. The Election Commission’s Special Intensive Revision (SIR) initiative prioritizes accuracy and transparency in the voter registry. The deletions include 6,42,234 deceased individuals, a significant 19,13,540 electors who have changed their address or are absent, and 179,043 instances of multiple registrations. The commission noted that 1,84,95,920 electors submitted their enumeration forms during this period. This large-scale operation was a testament to the coordinated efforts of electoral officers at district and sub-district levels, along with extensive support from volunteers and active participation from political party representatives.
