The monsoon season is eagerly anticipated to provide relief from the intense summer heat. The northeastern and southern parts of the country are experiencing significant rainfall due to the monsoon. Pre-monsoon showers are also affecting areas like Delhi and the western Himalayas. The southwest monsoon has advanced and now covers much of Bihar, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, and Odisha.
The monsoon is projected to progress further in the coming two days, moving towards the northern Arabian Sea and extending to parts of Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, and eastern Uttar Pradesh, starting from Gujarat. Delhi has already experienced pre-monsoon rainfall, accompanied by a drop in temperature due to strong winds and rain. A yellow alert is in place for Delhi today, with possibilities of light rain and thunderstorms in the evening or at night. The capital is expected to continue receiving rainfall for the next three days.
**States Under Red Alert**
According to the IMD, two low-pressure areas have developed: one over southwest Bangladesh and the adjacent Gangetic plains of West Bengal, and another in the Gujarat region. These systems are expected to bring heavy rainfall to the Gangetic plains of West Bengal, Bihar, Jharkhand, and Odisha over the next couple of days, resulting in a red alert for these states.
**Upcoming Weather Conditions**
Moderate to heavy rain is expected in multiple parts of Uttar Pradesh in the coming days, alongside the possibility of thunderstorms. The western Himalayan region, Haryana, Rajasthan, Vidarbha, coastal Andhra Pradesh, Rayalaseema, south interior Karnataka, Andaman-Nicobar Islands, and Lakshadweep may experience light to moderate rain and thunderstorms. Telangana, Vidarbha, and Marathwada can expect light rainfall.
