
Raipur: A special yoga and meditation session was conducted at Raipur Central Jail to commemorate International Yoga Day. The event saw active participation from about 200 inmates and jail personnel. Notably, this was the inaugural celebration of International Meditation Day within the jail premises.
The session was led by Ajay Singh, a senior instructor from the ‘Art of Living’ and former Yoga Commission member. He provided training to the inmates in various techniques of meditation, pranayama, and yoga. Singh pointed out the advantages of these practices, including mental tranquility, emotional equilibrium, stress mitigation, and improved sleep quality.
Jail Superintendent Amit Shandilya mentioned the importance of making yoga a part of daily life. The jail administration intends to organize recurring yoga, pranayama, and Sudarshan Kriya camps in the future.
The inmates participated with enthusiasm and discipline, demonstrating their interest in rehabilitative practices. This initiative represents a significant advancement towards the mental and spiritual well-being of the inmates. The program not only enhanced the atmosphere within the jail but also bolstered the efforts for the rehabilitation and reintegration of inmates into society. The yoga initiative at Raipur Central Jail is contributing a fresh perspective to its reformative culture.
