Piyush Goyal, Minister for Commerce and Industry, has praised Uttar Pradesh’s significant development under Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, pointing to the state’s ‘world-class infrastructure’ and ‘robust law and order’ as critical factors in its economic resurgence. According to Goyal, UP has transformed into a welcoming environment for commerce, aligning with the aspirations of its residents for improved living standards. The latest Annual Survey of Industries (ASI) 2023-24 report validates these observations, confirming Uttar Pradesh’s rise among India’s leading industrial states. The survey reveals that UP is now among the top five states for industrial employment, factory establishments, production volume, and Gross Value Added (GVA). The state has witnessed a remarkable 5.92% growth in industrial employment in 2023-24, contributing over 5.7 million jobs to the industrial sector in the preceding decade. Its share of national industrial employment now stands at 8%. In terms of manufacturing capacity, Uttar Pradesh ranks fourth nationally with 8.51% of India’s factories, a testament to its investment-friendly policies and improved industrial ecosystem. The state has also achieved record growth in production and GVA, contributing 7% to India’s total GVA, with strong performances in sectors like basic metals, pharmaceuticals, and food products.
