Oil Marketing Companies have announced a reduction in the rates of commercial 19 kg Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) cylinders, decreasing them by Rs 51.50, effective from September 1. The prices of 14.2 kg domestic cylinders are unaffected. In Delhi, the retail price for a 19 kg commercial LPG cylinder will be Rs 1580.
Commercial LPG cylinder prices are adjusted in several cities. In Delhi, the price is now Rs 1,580, down from Rs 1,631.50. Kolkata, Mumbai, and Chennai will see prices of Rs 1,684, Rs 1,531.5, and Rs 1,738, respectively, as per the Indian Oil Corporation. Domestic cylinder prices (14.2 kg) have remained steady since April 8.
The price of a 14.2 kg cylinder is Rs 853 in Delhi, while in Chennai, Kolkata, and Mumbai, the prices remain at Rs 868.50, Rs 879, and Rs 852.50, respectively, according to data from Indian Oil Corporation. This price cut offers relief to small businesses in Delhi that rely on commercial cylinders, including various shops, hotels, and food businesses.
The government has allocated Rs 30,000 crores to oil companies in 12 installments, as highlighted by Union Petroleum Minister Hardeep Singh Puri in August. This compensation, approved by the Union Cabinet on August 8, has helped stabilize LPG prices amid global market volatility.
