Congress broadcasts 2d record of applicants for Goa polls

NEW DELHI: The Congress on Sunday launched its 2d record of applicants for the Goa meeting elections.

On this record, seven applicants had been named for the February 14 single-phase polls for the 40-member state meeting.

The names of applicants had been finalised after a gathering of the central election committee of the Congress, and it used to be chaired by way of celebration president Sonia Gandhi, in step with a commentary.

The applicants on this record are Jitendra Gaonkar, Rodolf Louis Fernandes, Rajesh Faldessai, Manisha Shenvi Usgaonkar, Viriato Fernandes, Olencio Simoes and Avertano Furtado.

The Congress had closing month declared the names of 8 applicants for the elections.

The consequences might be declared on March 10 together with 4 different poll-bound states — Punjab, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh and Manipur.

AICC Goa table in-charge Dinesh Gundu Rao mentioned that the constituencies of Fatorda (South Goa) and Mayem (North Goa) could be contested by way of its alliance spouse, the Goa Ahead Birthday celebration.

Furtado will contest from the Navelim constituency in South Goa, Gaonkar from Pernem and Rodolf Fernandes from St Cruz phase.

Usgaonkar might be within the fray from the Valpoi constituency, whilst Viriato Fernandes, a retired defence officer, is the Congress candidate from Dabolim.

Olencio Simoes, who had raised the problems relating to native fishermen, is the nominee from the Cortalim seat.
