A Karnataka Congress legislator, Basavaraju V Shivaganga, has ignited controversy by claiming that DK Shivakumar will be appointed as the Chief Minister of the state following December. Shivakumar, also the President of the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee, has responded by deeming Shivaganga’s statement a breach of party rules and stating that a notice will be served. Shivaganga, the MLA from Channagiri, made this declaration in Davanagere, stating his conviction that Shivakumar will assume the Chief Ministerial role post-December.
Shivaganga’s earlier remarks have also touched on the potential change in the Chief Minister’s office, and his belief that Shivakumar will be the next to hold the position.
