Political tensions have escalated in Uttar Pradesh over the ‘I Love Muhammad’ campaign and the ensuing police actions. Congress MP Imran Masood has weighed in on the matter, stating that mosques should be places of worship, not venues for street violence. Speaking from Saharanpur, he urged Muslims to show their love for Muhammad through adherence to his principles, rather than through disruptive actions. The campaign started after an FIR was filed in Kanpur over banners displaying ‘I Love Muhammad.’ The police action sparked a wave of protests across several cities, leading to numerous arrests and further complaints. Masood also referenced the recent clashes during the ‘I Love Muhammad’ campaign, condemning them as inappropriate, as Muhammad preached humanity, not violence, and called on religious leaders to intervene.
