The new directive also mandates the removal of caste information from police FIRs, arrest memos, public spaces, and official documents. This decision has led to significant controversy. Caste-based organizations and opposition parties have criticized the move, and internal opposition is developing within the NDA.
Sanjay Nishad, the National President of the Nishad Party and a cabinet minister, has publicly opposed the government’s decision. He is urging the government to seek recourse through the Supreme Court or to find another solution. Nishad believes that prohibiting caste-related programs is the wrong approach and plans to write letters to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP leadership to express his concerns.
