A concert by Imran Nasir Khan, a singer from the Netherlands, was to take place at the Ballr pub in Pune’s Kalyani Nagar. The situation escalated when rumors spread online that Khan was a Pakistani national. Hindu organizations and members of the Shiv Sena (Uddhav Thackeray faction) gathered at the venue to protest. Demonstrators alleged the singer was Pakistani and that a cricket match between India and Pakistan was to be screened. Police took 14 protesters into custody as they worked to control the escalating situation.
