
A man has been sentenced to life imprisonment and fined Rs one lakh for the rape of his one-year-old stepdaughter. The local court expedited the trial, concluding it within two weeks.
The conviction was made under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
The mother of the child reported the incident, detailing that her husband had sexually assaulted the child while she was away from home. The young girl sustained injuries and was bleeding.
The charge sheet was filed, and the court began daily proceedings shortly thereafter.

Meanwhile, Delhi’s Patiala House Court has reserved its decision on the bail plea of Gaganpreet Kaur, who is implicated in the Dhaula Kuan BMW crash case, where a Finance Ministry Deputy Secretary, Navjot Singh, died.
Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC) Ankit Garg considered CCTV footage and heard arguments from the Special Public Prosecutor, defense counsel, and the complainant’s legal representation before reserving the order.
The bail order is expected on September 27, coinciding with the accused’s court appearance.
The court reviewed CCTV footage provided by the Delhi police during the hearing.
