In a move to enhance Assam’s healthcare and infrastructure, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit Darrang on September 8 to launch several key development projects. A new medical college and hospital will be established in the district, with the foundation stone to be laid by the Prime Minister. Additional projects, including the inauguration of the Narengi-Kurua bridge and the Guwahati Ring Road, will also be announced during the visit. These projects are expected to total around Rs 8,000 crore. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma emphasized the positive impact of these developments on Darrang, which is now progressing rapidly as a district. The government is also planning a medical college in Udalguri, with a focus on environmental protection during construction.
