A man in Rajasthan has been sentenced to death for an acid attack on his wife, Laxmi, due to her complexion. The man, Kishan, repeatedly mocked his wife about her dark skin and weight, leading to frequent conflicts and physical fights between them. The incident unfolded when Kishan told his wife he had applied medicine on her. When she complained of an acidic smell, he ignored her concerns. He then lit an incense stick on her stomach, resulting in her catching fire. Kishan subsequently poured the remaining substance on her while she was ablaze, causing her death. Police registered a case against Kishan at the Vallabhnagar police station in Udaipur, and he was presented before the Additional District Judge Court. According to the public prosecutor, the accused targeted the victim because of her dark complexion. The judge ruled for the death penalty to emphasize the gravity of the crime.
