Two First Information Reports (FIRs) have been registered against Al-Falah University in Faridabad, Haryana, by the Delhi Police. These legal actions are linked to allegations of cheating and the university’s purported false claims about its accreditation status, occurring in the aftermath of a deadly blast near Delhi’s Red Fort Metro Station. The Delhi Crime Branch has officially filed these FIRs, one for cheating and another under sections related to forgery. Officials from the Crime Branch conducted a visit to the university’s Okhla office, issuing a notice and requesting pertinent documents. This action follows significant findings of irregularities by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). The NAAC specifically alerted the university through a show-cause notice, pointing out that Al-Falah University, which is not accredited by NAAC, had prominently displayed false accreditation details on its website. This misrepresentation is considered highly misleading to students, parents, and the public. The university, founded under Haryana state law, has been drawn into the spotlight after the arrest of three doctors implicated in the “white-collar terror module” and the Delhi blast, prompting investigations into whether it served as a refuge for such elements. The institution, managed by a charitable trust, began as an engineering college and achieved ‘A’ grade accreditation in 2013, subsequently becoming a university in 2014.
