The aviation regulator, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), has issued a warning to Air India for exceeding flight time limits on its Bangalore-London route. The DGCA’s letter, dated August 11, highlights that two Air India flights from Bangalore to London surpassed the 10-hour duty time limit in May. The flights, AI133, operated on May 16 and 17, 2025, exceeded the maximum flight time as per the Civil Aviation Requirement (CAR). The DGCA found Air India’s explanation unsatisfactory. The airline’s Accountable Manager was found to be non-compliant with essential operational provisions. A Show Cause Notice was issued, and the response was deemed inadequate. Air India has been instructed to ensure adherence to all applicable civil aviation requirements.
