A bill passed in the Himachal Pradesh Assembly outlines a shift in the appointment of Vice-Chancellors for agricultural universities. The Chancellor will now appoint the Vice-Chancellors, but this will be done based on the aid and advice of the state government. Following the Governor’s feedback on an earlier bill, a revised bill was introduced in 2024. However, due to the Governor’s reservations and the pending decision from the central government, the state government opted to withdraw the 2024 amendment bill.
