A tragic bus accident in Saudi Arabia has claimed the lives of more than 40 Indian pilgrims en route from Mecca to Medina. The vehicle reportedly burst into flames after a collision with a diesel tanker. A significant number of the victims are feared to be from Hyderabad. Condolences have poured in from across India, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressing deep sorrow and assuring that the Indian Embassy in Riyadh and Consulate in Jeddah are fully engaged in relief operations. “I pray for the swift recovery of all those injured,” the Prime Minister added. Local representatives, including AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi, have been actively working to gather information about the pilgrims from Hyderabad. Owaisi confirmed that 42 pilgrims from two Hyderabad-based travel agencies were on the bus and has shared passenger details with the Indian Embassy. Telangana’s Chief Minister has also directed officials to liaise with the Indian embassy to provide all necessary assistance to the families of those affected. The Indian Consulate General in Jeddah has set up a dedicated 24/7 control room to manage inquiries and offer support.
