A serious incident unfolded in Nagpur, where an army officer, identified as 40-year-old Harshpal Mahadev Waghmare, was arrested after allegedly driving his car into a crowd and injuring approximately 25 to 30 people. The officer, who serves in the Indian Army and was on a four-day leave from his post in Assam, was reportedly driving under the influence of alcohol. The incident occurred near Durga Chowk in the Nagardhan area around 8:30 pm on Sunday. Waghmare’s vehicle was moving at a high speed when he lost control, causing it to hit numerous pedestrians. The car then overturned and landed in a roadside drain. Following the crash, local residents intervened, removing Waghmare from the car and physically assaulting him. Police arrived at the scene, apprehended the officer, and took him to a hospital for medical attention. A medical test has been scheduled to confirm whether alcohol was a factor in the incident.
