
During a press conference, the Election Commission of India (ECI) discussed the preparations for the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections. The Chief Election Commissioner (CEC), Gyanesh Kumar, stated that the elections are scheduled before the Bihar Assembly dissolves on November 22. The ECI will implement 100% webcasting. The CEC commended the voters and election staff for their efforts in the SIR process. The voter list cleansing work was highlighted. The CEC emphasized that each polling station will have approximately 1,200 voters to manage the voting process. The ECI will accept Aadhaar cards for voter list inclusion, while reiterating that it does not constitute citizenship. Candidates’ photographs on election-related documents will be in color. Postal ballots will be counted before the final two rounds of EVM counting. Digital index cards will be available shortly after the election. Identity cards for booth-level officials will be introduced. Mobile phones can be deposited in a room outside the booth. The serial number font will be larger, and the candidates’ photographs will be color photographs. The CEC urged voters to approach the upcoming polls with enthusiasm, treating them as a festival of democracy.
