The Election Commission of India (ECI) faced strong criticism from a coalition of 11 political parties, the INDIA bloc, regarding the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Bihar. The opposition leaders met with the ECI and labeled the revision as the worst attack on the Constitution. The primary concern was the timing of the exercise, just months before the Assembly elections. The Congress party, through Abhishek Manu Singhvi, argued that the hurried nature of the revision could lead to inaccuracies and jeopardize the democratic process. RJD MP Manoj Jha and CPI General Secretary D Raja also voiced concerns about potential voter exclusion and logistical issues stemming from the impending monsoon season.
