The Government of India is launching ‘NAVYA’ to empower adolescent girls with essential skills for the future. This initiative, a collaborative effort between the Ministry of Women and Child Development (MWCD) and the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE), aligns with the vision of ‘Viksit Bharat 2047’. The program will begin in Sonbhadra, Uttar Pradesh. ‘NAVYA’ specifically targets adolescent girls aged 16-18 who have completed Class 10, offering vocational training, particularly in non-traditional job roles. It is designed to be inclusive, reaching underserved regions and vulnerable populations across 19 states and 27 districts, including aspirational districts and those in the North-Eastern States. The program will integrate the strengths of existing schemes like the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY) and PM Vishwakarma. The launch event will include interactions with adolescent girl trainees and the distribution of relevant certificates.
