Authorities in Roorkee Cantonment have successfully apprehended a man impersonating an Indian Army officer. The suspect, Surendra Kumar from Kolsiya village, Rajasthan, was detained on Thursday near the MES gate after intelligence officers became suspicious of his presence. A joint operation involving the Army, local police, and intelligence units confirmed he was not a serving member of the armed forces. During the search, investigators discovered a cache of incriminating items: 18 debit cards, a fake Army identification card, a fabricated joining letter, a nameplate, and the uniform he was wearing. The motive behind his presence in the restricted military area is currently the subject of intense scrutiny, with agencies exploring possible larger conspiracies. This incident is reminiscent of a September arrest in Sambhajinagar, where a woman was found to have been posing as a retired Army officer, complete with uniforms and medals, for public events.
