A retired Border Security Force (BSF) personnel was involved in a murder-suicide in Rajasthan’s Nagaur district on Thursday, after shooting his brother-in-law. The incident is the culmination of a long-standing conflict with his wife and her family.
Police investigations indicate that the 48-year-old man was deeply agitated by his wife’s decision to reside with her parents for three months. He alleged that his in-laws were influencing his wife against him, which triggered continuous arguments and ultimately led to their separation. According to a local constable, the man recorded a statement before committing the act, in which he discussed the marital issues and blamed his in-laws for his wife’s decisions.
The man fatally shot his brother-in-law in the chest with a licensed firearm and then took his own life by shooting himself in the mouth. The video also revealed the wife’s phone usage and financial troubles as major contributing factors to the conflict. The authorities are probing the incident.
