A retired bank manager, Khulwant Singh, aged 74, died after a skywalk collapsed in Faridabad’s Sector 88. The incident occurred on Tuesday morning when a section of the rusted skywalk, an iron bridge between two towers, gave way. Singh was tending to plants on the bridge. The police investigation has revealed that the skywalk, initially designed as a fire escape, had been converted into a makeshift garden. Singh’s family has filed a police complaint, accusing the Residents Welfare Committee (RWA) of negligence. Authorities are now examining the RWA’s role in maintaining the structure. Residents had previously voiced concerns about the quality of construction. An RWA member stated the committee had cautioned against using the skywalk for gardening.
