In preparation for the busy festival season, New Delhi Railway Station (NDLS) has launched a new Yatri Suvidha Kendra, a move highlighted by Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw. This modern facility is set to significantly improve the travel experience for the anticipated influx of passengers. Designed to comfortably house around 7,000 travelers at any given time, the Kendra prioritizes pre-boarding comfort and efficient passenger flow. The strategic layout divides the space into three functional zones: a 2,860 sqm ticketing hall, a 1,150 sqm post-ticketing area, and a 1,218 sqm pre-ticketing zone, all engineered to mitigate congestion and enhance passenger ease at the main entrance. Passengers will find a host of modern amenities, including 22 ticket counters, 25 ATVMs, seating capacity for 200, and 18 HVLS fans for a pleasant environment. The construction phase successfully navigated complex tasks, such as relocating ATMs, a police cabin, and critical utilities, without impacting daily station activities. Furthermore, an upgraded Foot Over Bridge 1 (FOB 1) now connects directly to the Metro Station, creating a seamless transfer experience and reducing platform crowding. This infrastructure enhancement supports the government’s commitment to its railway workforce, evidenced by the recent approval of a Rs 1,866 crore Productivity Linked Bonus.
