The investigation is centered on the death of Raja Raghuvanshi, whose body was found near Cherrapunji, Meghalaya, on June 2. Raja and Sonam were on their honeymoon in May 2025 and had been reported missing. Sonam was later found on the Varanasi-Ghazipur highway. Govind, Sonam’s brother, has stated his belief in her involvement, demanding severe punishment. He also expressed his apologies to Raja’s family. Kiran Raghuvanshi, Raja’s sister-in-law, stated that Sonam used two phones to send multiple messages. SP Vivek Syiem of East Khasi Hills, Meghalaya, emphasized that there is evidence suggesting Sonam’s involvement, but further investigation is needed.
