The Punjab Government, under Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, has demonstrated that the welfare of its citizens remains a priority, even during crises. In the flood-affected areas, the government’s health initiatives have been significantly ramped up, with a notable increase in medical camp treatments. On September 16, health camps benefited around 51,000 individuals, and this number surged to 1.5 lakh the following day. This rapid increase underscores the government’s swift understanding of the crisis and its ability to promptly deliver aid. This immediate action has provided reassurance to affected families, confirming the government’s steadfast support.
Chief Minister Mann directed the Health and Family Welfare Department to ensure that all impacted families have access to essential health services. He acknowledged that floods not only cause physical damage but also heighten health risks. The government prioritized the provision of healthcare to every resident. This led to the timely provision of relief and treatment for thousands, thereby minimizing the risk of potential disease outbreaks.
A special health campaign was launched on September 14, with the aim of controlling possible post-flood diseases, offering basic healthcare at people’s homes, and providing safety to the vulnerable. The Chief Minister ensured that the plans established at the state level were rapidly put into effect in the villages. This approach explains the unprecedented number of people who benefited from the health camps in such a short span.
