Four people have lost their lives in a harrowing train accident in Chhattisgarh’s Bilaspur district. The Korba Passenger Express collided with a goods train near Jairamnagar station earlier today. Eyewitness accounts and initial reports indicate that the front coach of the passenger train was heavily damaged in the impact. The District Collector confirmed the tragic loss of life and cautioned that the death toll might climb. Rescue teams are working diligently at the scene to tend to the injured and clear the wreckage. This collision has crippled train movement on the significant Bilaspur–Howrah railway line. Critical infrastructure, including overhead electrical lines and signaling apparatus, sustained substantial damage, necessitating significant repair work. Consequently, several trains have been canceled or rerouted, causing widespread disruption.
