The principal road construction of the Ganga Expressway, a large-scale project by the state, is now complete. Alongside the main road, ancillary works such as service roads, toll plazas, landscaping, display boards, street lighting, and the installation of cameras at every kilometer are either finished or proceeding quickly. Though the construction of the service lanes faced a minor setback due to rainfall, work has since recommenced.
During an inspection conducted on Saturday, Prayagraj District Magistrate Manish Kumar Verma directed that all facets of the project be finalized by November 2, 2025. This 594-kilometer expressway will connect Meerut and Prayagraj, thereby improving transportation between eastern and western Uttar Pradesh. This project, with an estimated cost of Rs 36,000 crore, will benefit 12 districts across the state.
DM Verma inspected the expressway’s starting location in Judhapur Dandu village in Prayagraj, evaluating the construction’s physical advancement, traffic management strategies, and project plans. Construction officials advised that the project has been segmented into four groups, with Group 4 covering a 15.2-kilometer stretch in Prayagraj district. The expressway will have six lanes initially, but the infrastructure has been designed to support eight lanes for future capacity needs.
