A delivery worker in Gurugram is now in custody, accused of kidnapping and sexually assaulting an eight-year-old girl on Wednesday. The child was abducted while on her way to the Kanjak ritual. The authorities were alerted after the girl was reported missing. Police promptly established five investigation teams. The girl was recovered, unconscious, 20 hours later, about five kilometers from her residence. The investigation involved interviews with local residents and a review of video footage. It was found the girl had been with a man on a green scooter. After a search, the girl was found in Sector 95 on Thursday morning and was transported to a local hospital in critical condition. Medical evidence confirmed that the girl was raped and assaulted. The suspect faces charges under the POCSO Act and other statutes. After finding the girl, the police used CCTV footage to identify and apprehend a 21-year-old suspect employed as a delivery worker. During questioning, the suspect admitted he lured the girl with the offer of food, then kidnapped and assaulted her. Furthermore, the suspect told police that earlier in the day, he had approached and picked up two other children, but let them go before abducting the eight-year-old.
