Heavy rainfall in Delhi and Gurugram on Monday led to a 7-kilometer-long traffic jam, creating significant disruption for commuters. Waterlogging on roads was the primary cause of the congestion, leading to extensive delays and frustrated travelers. Metro services were also affected by delays linked to a signalling problem. Online, citizens shared their experiences, with numerous posts showing the extent of the traffic and commuters struggling to move. The Deputy Commissioner of Gurugram announced that between 3 PM and 7 PM, over 100 mm of rainfall had been recorded. The IMD has issued an Orange Alert for heavy to very heavy rainfall on September 2, 2025. As a result, corporate offices and private institutions are encouraging employees to work remotely, and schools are moving classes online.
