
Justice Tirthankar Ghosh of the Calcutta High Court raised concerns about the slow removal of obscene content from social media and internet platforms. He stated that victims are often left feeling embarrassed due to these delays. According to the court, investigative agencies have significant issues when it comes to removing this kind of content. Justice Ghosh made his statements at the announcement of a new postgraduate program in criminology and criminal justice. He emphasized that victims suffer embarrassment and serious consequences as complaints are not addressed by service providers, and investigators can’t reach the source. The judge also highlighted the importance of forensic science in the investigation of cybercrimes.
