Widespread heavy rainfall continues to create challenging conditions in several parts of India. Tragically, Himachal Pradesh has seen at least 43 fatalities related to the ongoing monsoon. Incidents such as cloudbursts, flash floods, and landslides have disrupted daily life significantly. The IMD is closely monitoring the situation and has issued an orange alert for Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, and Maharashtra. The monsoon’s arrival on Friday brought waterlogging and traffic problems. A yellow alert has been issued for Delhi, forecasting rain for the next two days. Furthermore, alerts are in place for severe rainfall in Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, and Chhattisgarh (July 5th-10th), Jharkhand, Gangetic West Bengal, and Odisha (July 5th-7th), Sub-Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim (July 7th-9th), and the Andaman & Nicobar Islands (July 6th). The IMD expects the southwest monsoon to remain active in the western Himalayan region and plains for the next week, impacting regions like Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, East Rajasthan, and West Uttar Pradesh. Residents are encouraged to take precautions, follow weather updates from the IMD, seek safe shelter, and avoid non-essential travel, as well as contact with electricity.
