
The State Disaster Management Authority (SDMA) has released data indicating a devastating impact of heavy rainfall in Himachal Pradesh. The death toll has reached 80, with 52 fatalities directly linked to rain-induced disasters like landslides and flash floods. Another 28 deaths are attributed to other causes, including road accidents. Mandi district has been the worst affected, reporting 17 rain-related deaths, followed by Kangra with 11. The SDMA report, encompassing June 20 to July 7, also includes deaths from electrocution, snake bites, and falls. The state has also recorded 128 injuries, extensive damage to properties, and significant loss of livestock. Public infrastructure has suffered substantial damage. The monsoon has brought 23 flash floods, 19 cloudbursts, and 16 landslides. Relief camps have been set up, and rescue operations are ongoing, with assistance from NDRF and SDRF teams. The public is urged to exercise caution and avoid hazardous areas.
